Parents should treat their sons and daughters the same. It's not right to favor on child because of gender. My mama is the fourth child of my grandparents. They have one boy (the oldest) and four girls. My mama used to tell me how all her brother did was take out the garbage and they had to make up their beds (including his) and all their other chores. That's why i think my mama treat my sister and me the same and the age difference doesn't matter.
The rules for boys and girls should be the same as of chores and consequences. If your son and daughter both sneak out the house, they both should be punished according to their interest. If your daughter likes television and not really into music, well the television should be taken away. If your son likes music and not television, then the i pod/mp3 player should be taken away. Then main thing is that they are both punished.
