Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God

Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God

This article mainly states, if you do wrong then you will go to hell; so make wise decisions. The writer portrays God as this loving person above that is always here for you. But if you commit a sin then he will not lend a hand to you.
The author uses pathos in various ways to attract the reader. For an example he uses sympathy to belittle a person indirectly. In today’s world anything is bound to happen. The only thing with that is, you never know when it will happen and it is up to you to make the right choices. This corrupted world is filled with so many temptations that one might find themselves getting into sticky situations. There will always be evil in the world; but its up to you stay on the right path that God himself has planned for you. Like the old saying goes “misery loves company”. If you let sin into your heart it will spread like a contagious virus and take control of your mind, body, and soul.
The writer also applies pathos to make the reader realize who they are and if they really want to be that way. He states that “it is easy to crush on a worm that we see crawling the earth”. In my opinion that means that we as a humans, are too quick to arbitrate another individual, even when we are not aware of it, but do it unconsciously. He also says “they are now the objects of that very same anger”. What I understand from that is on judgment day, God will critique you and He will be the one looking down on you and you will be the one crushed like a worm.

This document’s purpose is to inform humans about making good choices. God gets upset when you make terrible decisions that can ruin your life. People may not know that all it takes is one sin to start the process of heading into the wrong direction. How ever harsh your sin is your punishment will be ten times harsher. Don’t ever think that you can do damage and can get away with it. Your punishment may not arrive now, but your time will come. Like another saying goes “what’s done in the dark shall come to a light”.
God only help those who help themselves. That’s why you should always live your life the best you can because tomorrow isn’t promised nor is heaven. All He really asks of you is to attend church to hear his word; “attending his solemn worship”. God does things unwillingly and out of his heart; “restrained by no obligation”. There is nothing God can not do. In conclusion, do right in your life because once you fall off the path of rightfulness, there is nothing you can do to escape from hell. Always remember God gave his only begotten son so we can have life.

The Iroquois & Pima Creation Stories

The Iroquois & Pima Creation Stories

In the Iroquois creation story, it started off as a pregnant mother that was having twins. Well one night she fell asleep and ended up in the lower world. While down there one of her twins, the bad minded son, decided to rupture into that world from under his mother’s arm instead of being conceived the normal way. The good minded brother endeavored to stay alive so he came out with his brother. A certain emotion {pathos} was used in the story. The emotion of resentfulness played a role in this tale. The good minded brother did not want to stay in the lower world forever; he wanted to change the dark world and bring light. So he worked hard to achieve his goal. While doing so his envious brother, worked hard also to make sure that his brother did not accomplish his objective by creating such reptiles that would harm the ideal plan the good mind had in store. Well the good minded brother discovered what his brother was up to, he recommended that they work together. The bad minded brother suggested that they compete against each other, who ever wins gets to govern the new universe that the good minded brother created. The teller of this story brings forth the emotion of deception at the end of this tale by showing how the good minded brother con his brother by using his weakness against him. It’s a dirty world out here and you have to live for you or else you won’t make it. Always have your game face on.

In the Pima stories it took a god-like spirit “The Doctor of the Earth” and an actual human being “The Buzzard” to create the universe. The Buzzard was made to be just like the Doctor of the Earth. As the story goes on, it reminds me of how Christians believe that God {a spirit} is in heaven and formed Jesus his son, a person just like him, someone that can help God by making sure that people know about him here on Earth. The story of this conception stated how Juhwertamahki {the Doctor of the Earth} made the sun, moon, and stars out of water. Logic tells us that the sun, moon, and stars cannot possibly contain water. Different studies have proven what exactly the sun, moon, and stars are really made up of. If that was the case then wouldn’t they evaporate? What supposedly happens when it rains, does the rain come from the sun, moon, and stars? No, so their legend on how the world was made in the beginning is somewhat true but for the most part the truth was stretched and very much mythical.
There are ways in which the two stories are similar. Both stories stated how the universe started with two people, man and woman. They also stated what they did to create the sun, moon, and stars. In conclusion, the Pima and the Iroquois legends are both interesting in their own way. In a way they remind me of parables that have a deeper meaning within them.

Is Google Making Us Stupid?
The central contention of this article is to inform the reader of how the internet has a huge affect on our everyday lives. The internet may be very helpful and convenient but in some cases presented in this article proves that convenient isn’t always what’s best for you.
Internet can have a negative influence on people and their well being. As stated in the article “the more they used the web the harder it is to stay focused.” I can relate to that statement because I have also found myself “skimming” through things that I read, especially if it isn’t to my liking. When you’re on the internet you don’t really have the time to read everything so you skim and scan through different types of writings. When you do work in school you notice that you bring those bad habits into your daily work.
The definition of the internet according to the article “internet is a machine designed for the efficient and automated collection.” In other words the web is a big brain that’s full of worldwide knowledge. This article used the word “substitute” to describe the internet. The author used that word as a synonym because that’s really what it is; a substitute. Instead of doing the research or finding out important information or events through the news, we find it more suitable to just surf the net for it. We forget that we all have brains ourselves and that we can find out news and other things through other sources. We have television, books, radio, magazines, and other human beings to inform us on different issues.
The author also used the word distraction as a synonym in this informative article. For an example, if you’re online doing research for a paper that’s due the next day; you may get side tracked by the other things you could be doing online. Also, the article explained how you may go from one website to another by clicking on the link. Distractions like those can have one’s best intentions turned into something completely divergent. That also goes along with internet safety.
The article didn’t just focus on the cons of internet it also stated some advantages about it. It’s also a pastime and a way of communicating for some people. People connect via emails and social networks all the time. People have found long lost relatives due to different networking sites such as facebook and myspace. When watching television and listening to the radio you can’t always know what your friends, family and/or favorite star is doing; but with twitter you can. In addition, with the internet almost everything is online! From online dictionaries and encyclopedias to shopping and playing games the internet has it all.
In conclusion this article informed the reader about how the internet can be used in a useful and handy way, but, it can also be a disadvantage to someone; in terms of safety or someone just being indolent. The net can be positive in such ways as keeping in touch with family and/or friends or doing an assignment; doing what you perfer. On the other hand the web can be dangerous. You can lose you inability to know how to comprehend what exactly you are reading. Using the web to “skim” isn’t good enough when you are reading something that you should or will have to know. The author of this article wasn’t biased at all; he was completely fair in my opinion.
